- If you have access to a Windows CD: try to boot to the recovery console and run chkdsk /r. You can get it to boot, backup what you need, - then replace the drive.
- Another solution: Reinstall your OS.
- The hard drive is failed: get a new disk, install the OS, set the other as slave, and get the needed files.

Inspiron 6000: Error Code 1000-0146
DST stands for Drive Self Test, if it fails the test it means your drive is failing.
